Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani went to the holy Badrinath Dham on Friday in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand to pay his offering. His entrance into the temple grounds and into the sacred shrine aroused attention since he was surrounded by tight security. One of the news agencies posted a video in which he was walking among the masses of the devotees, accompanied by several security personnel who facilitated the movement.

In spite of the high security level, visitors could witness Ambani communicating with them in a polite manner. He also made selfies with some of the devotees, shared greetings, and watched the rituals being followed in the temple. Then he went on to do a puja at the shrine and had a short but significant time with the deity. During the visit, the devotees who were present at the site were happy with his friendly nature and giving respect to his actions.

This visit comes after the Navratri festivities of the Ambani family that started on September 24 with an aarti to Goddess Durga. It was attended by Mukesh and Nita Ambani, their son Akash, and Anant Ambani, their daughter-in-law Shloka Merchant and Radhika Merchant, and other members of the family. During the celebrations, the family members would perform traditional garba. The occasion was marked with custom-made decorations done by Gujarati artisans, where cultural art was reflected and devotions were made.

Badrinath is a holy pilgrimage location of Hinduism. It is one of the 108 divya desams in honor of Lord Vishnu, which has a tremendous spiritual importance to the followers. It is also among the Panch Badri temples; other temples include the Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Adi Badri, and Vriddha Badri. The temple, which is usually referred to as Badari Vishal, was resurrected by the philosopher and reformist Adi Shankaracharya to re-establish the status of Sanatan Dharma. His work is considered critical towards restoring pilgrimage practices in the area.
