Bhopal: Widespread and heavy rain is likely to continue over West Madhya Pradesh and east Rajasthan, which are already dealing with a flood-like situation, for the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Gwalior-Chambal River is continuously witnessing a significant rise, which has submerged several regions in its neighborhood. The Chambal river authorities have raised an alert as the barrage breached the two meters danger mark.
The current spell of incessant rains has kept rivers Sindh, Parvati, Kuno, Mahuar, and Nau River in spate for the past 4 days.
Defence aircraft on Monday, launched the rescue operations to evacuate stranded people in flooded villages. So far, Shivpuri and Sheopur have reported two deaths due to the floods.
Rivers, water bodies and drains have been overwhelmed in Shivpuri and Sheopur districts, officials reported. Several areas located in the diameter of 400 km of Sheopur have been inundated by the Parvati River.
The Sind River reportedly has caused huge destruction severing Sevdha bridge in Datia district. Similarly, Indrukhi bridge and bridge of Mehenda Ghat have also flown away in the rains.
Overall, more than 2000 people are stranded across several districts in MP due to the incessant rains that infuriated the water bodies of the state.
