On Thursday, Mohan Bhagwat pointed out one such organisational change in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), as he said that it is embracing decentralisation to operate its fast growing activities and increasing public demands. Bhagwat, who was speaking in the centenary celebration of Marathi newspaper Tarun Bharat in Nagpur, claimed that the move is meant to empower the volunteers on the grassroots and enhance efficiency.
He clarified that as the organisation extends, smaller and more localised units will assume duties, which previously were dealt with on higher levels. The RSS intends to reform its administrative system to have more divisions (86 sambhags) of 46 (prant) divisions, so that it can coordinate and execute work in different regions better.
Irrespective of these structural changes, Bhagwat pointed out that the original philosophy of the RSS will not change. He repeated that the organisation has been successful due to the development of personal relationships, friendship and leading the way by example, and not through publicity or mass campaigns.
Speaking in the context of younger generations, he has mentioned that Gen Z is becoming strongly interested in such values as honesty and serving the country, which, in their turn, are quite similar to the ideas of the ideology of the RSS. He continued by saying that the volunteers are aggressively contacting young people including those found in the urban areas such as the high-rise buildings and the gated community with the aim of engaging them.
Bhagwat also admitted the increasing role of the digital platforms, saying that the RSS is going to become more active in social media. According to him, the organisation intends to utilise online tools in a positive way, such as content such as reels and memes, to reach a larger number of people and to spread its message in a positive way.
