Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave a stern and sharp message at the 25th SCO Heads of State Council Summit on Monday in the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister, stating that the world must unite to fight terrorism. Speaking at the plenary session, PM Modi emphasized that terrorism is a global problem, not an individual problem of one country, and indicated clearly that there should be no dual standards in the approach towards tackling terror.

Referring to the brutal terror attack at Pahalgam on April 22 when the lives of 26 people (primarily civilians) were lost, PM Modi underlined that security, peace, and stability are the keystones to progress. He urged the SCO member states to join hands to fight terrorism, and it is high time they have a similar approach in fighting this menace. In the war against terrorism, India has been insisting on unity and SCO will play a significant role in this case, he said, stressing the role of coordinated international action.

PM Modi also emphasized the proactive role that India played when fighting against terror groups like the Al-Qaeda and those who were allied to them. He emphasized that India is a counter-terrorism leader and does not support any kind of terror financing. It was only a few days ago that we saw the shocking Pahalgam assault and I would like to thank all the cordial countries who joined hands with us, he said.

The Prime Minister further noted that India has suffered over 70 years of the plague of terrorism, which has impacted peace and progress of the country. By bringing up the question on such a high-profile global platform PM Modi sent a very strong message that no nation should be left to harbor or promote terrorism and that responsibility and justice should take the day off.

The comments have been made in the context of increased international alarm regarding cross-border terrorism, especially after the incidents which are known to have links to Pakistan.
