In the sensational new turn to the high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, a property manager in Indore has come out saying that one of the accused in the case, Vishal Chauhan, had rented a flat with him a week after the murder had taken place. The national attention has been pegged on the murder as it occurred during the honeymoon of the Raja in Meghalaya with chilling circumstances and a list of suspects that includes even the wife of the Raja.
On May 30, seven days after Raja disappeared, Shilom James, owner of a property management company in Indore, told the media that Vishal Chauhan came to him and rented a flat in the Dewas Naka area at 17,000 per month. Chauhan entered into an official rental agreement and deposited a security amount of 34,000 rupees. James gave him the keys, and he is not sure whether he or any of his friends ever slept there, he said. In another observation, he indicated that the new building does not have CCTV cameras, which would have assisted the investigators in monitoring the movement of Chauhan.
James acknowledged that he reported to the police shortly after knowing that Chauhan was involved in this case, and he gave them crucial information that might help them in the investigation process.
Raja Raghuvanshi is an Indore-based businessman who has been missing since May 23, when he was honeymooning in East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. His body was found on June 2 in a ravine close to a cascade at Sohra (Cherrapunji). He has been married to Sonam since May 11, and she has owned up to the crime. According to police, Sonam and her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha had conspired to murder in Indore with the assistance of Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi and Akash Rajput.
The five suspects have been ordered to be detained in police custody for eight days. Meanwhile, Govind, the brother of Sonam, has also addressed the media, asserting that the time and events are true indicators that she killed the man.
