Bollywood: Prakash Javadekar, Information and Broadcasting Minister announced that Megastar Rajinikanth will be honored with the 2019 Dadasaheb Phalke award. He expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone.
The actor tweeted, “My heartfelt thanks to the government of India, respected & dearest @narendramodi Ji, @PrakashJavadekar Ji, and the jury for conferring upon me the prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeAward”.
PM Modi congratulated the actor and tweeted, “it is a matter of immense joy that Thalaiva has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award”. In reply, the actor penned a note of thanks to the PM.
He tweeted, “Immensely humbled and honored with your greetings and the most prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeAward award respected and dearest Shri @narendramodi Ji. My heartfelt thanks to you and the government of India”.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2019 was postponed due to the global pandemic. The National Film Awards for 2019 was also postponed. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is awarded by the government and is the highest honor in film.
Amitabh Bachchan was the recipient of the 2018 Dadasaheb Phalke award. In the Tamil film industry, Rajinikanth has completed more than 45 years. He was last seen in the movie ‘Darbar’. He is shooting for his upcoming film ‘Annaatthe’.
