New Delhi: In the wake of a major security breach in Parliament, eight Lok Sabha personnel face suspension. The incident unfolded when two intruders jumped from the visitor’s gallery, prompting chaos inside the Lok Sabha chambers. The suspended personnel include Rampal, Arvind, Vir Das, Ganesh, Anil, Pradeep, Vimitt, and Narendra.
The intruders created pandemonium by releasing yellow smoke canisters and rushing towards the Speaker’s chair. Outside the parliament, two others ignited red and yellow smoke bombs, protesting against dictatorship. Identified as Sagar Sharma, D Manoranjan, Neelam Azad, and Amol Shinde, all four have been arrested and charged under the anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Amid the chaos, MPs surrounded the intruders, with a video capturing at least four MPs physically confronting one of them. The Parliament’s proceedings for Day 11 of the Winter Session were adjourned after the breach. Opposition leaders raised slogans, demanding answers from Home Minister Amit Shah. The Opposition bloc, INDIA, discussed the issue in Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s chambers and is considering a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu.
As the situation unfolded, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to present reworked criminal law Bills for discussion, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023.
These bills aim to replace existing laws, emphasizing legal reforms. The Parliament’s security breach has added urgency to the discussions, amplifying concerns about the safety and functioning of one of India’s most crucial institutions. The incident has not only raised questions about security protocols but has also become a focal point for political discussions, further intensifying the ongoing Winter Session.
