New Delhi: India recorded 1,778 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,30,10,922. The recovery rate at 98.64 per cent accounted for 2,542 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,24,73,057. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.26 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 23,087 accounting for 0.05 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 826 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recorded 62 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,16,605.
Centre on Tuesday in the ongoing Budget session informed the Rajya Sabha that over 8.7 lakh hospital admissions and 50.6 lakh tests were authorised for COVID-19 under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) as of March 16.
With the administration of 30.53 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 181.89 crore according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to the health ministry, more than 184.03 crore (1,84,03,90,980) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Over 16.97 Cr (16,97,30,191) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, it added.
