Banks’ Closing of Accounts, the Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday and the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) Holiday are the three main types of bank holidays categorised by the RBI. Only all the scheduled and non-scheduled banks are bound to follow these guidelines to make provisions of uniformity among financial institutions.
Even when physical branches are closed on holidays, customers can enjoy using online banking, UPI and ATM services without any difficulty. In the meantime, it is better to do the rush banking task in advance so that there is no last minute problem.
