NEW DELHI: A Delhi High Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of ex Deputy Minister Delhi till June 1. The Rose Avenue court was hearing the money laundering csse related to alleged scam through liqour policy.
Additionally, the judge also directed jail authorities to provide Sisodia a chair and a table along with books inside the prison.
Tensions sparked after a clipping of Sisodia interacting with the media personnel while he was brought outside court room went viral. In the video a police officer is seen dragging Sisodia by the neck as a journalist seeks his views on the Ordinance brought by the Centre to overturn the Supreme Court verdict in the Services matter.
He replies- “Bahut ahankaar ho gaya hai Modi ji ko. Na voh loktantra ko maante hain (Modiji has become very arrogant. Neither does he believe in democracy)…” even as the policeman says “chaliye chaliye”, grabs him by the neck and pushes him towards the exit.
The AAP leaders have been demanding a suspension of the police personnel on breach of code of conduct.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi tweeted, “Shocking misbehaviour by this policeman with Manish ji in Rouse Avenue Court. Delhi police should suspend him immediately.”
CM Kejriwal wrote- “Does the police personnel have the right to misbehave with Manish ji? Have the police been ordered to do this?”
However the Delhi Police denied of any misbehavior. Suman Nalwa, Delhi Police Spokesperson, said, “During the court proceedings at Rouse Avenue Court, there was no incident of police misconduct with Mr Manish Sisodia. The allegations are defamatory. The police action was mandatory, from a security standpoint…Issuing statements to the media by the accused in the midst of judicial protection is against the law”.
