NEW DELHI: Following the second round of questioning the ED on Thursday arrested the Former Deputy Minister of Delhi and a prominent AAP member for the second time. Manish Sisodia was arrested last week by the ED in connection to money laundering in the excise policy that is scrapped for now. The arrest comes just a day before Sisodia’s bail hearing in a CBI Court.

According to a source from ED, the arrest was sought based on shreds of evidence that the federal agency found against him. As per the procedures, the jail superintendent was informed and an arrest memo was served under Section 19 PMLA, following which Sisodia was arrested.

Manish Sisodia’s statement was first recorded on March 7th for about 5 hours. The ED obtained a local court’s permission to question the politician, who till recently was the deputy CM of Delhi, in cell number 1 of the jail.

Sisodia is currently lodged in judicial custody after the CBI arrested him on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor or excise policy for 2021-22.
