The Manipur government on Wednesday declined permission to launch the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra at Hapta Kangjeibung, in Imphal East.

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) cried foul, with president K Meghachandra accusing the BJP-led state government of playing politics. He stated the party had applied for permission weeks ago and received assurances, making the last-minute denial a “betrayal of democracy.” The Congress views the yatra as a crucial platform to revive its fortunes in the state, and the venue denial casts a shadow over its plans.
