Pathanamthitta (Kerala): A local court in Kerala in a historic decision on Friday sentenced a rape accused to 142 years of RI. In a press release, the District Police has called the Rigorous Imprisonment ‘record punishment’ to a POCSO case accused.
Pathanamthitta Additional District and Sessions Court (Principal POCSO) judge Jayakumar John sentenced Anandan P R to 142 years of jail for raping a minor for two years. A fine of RS 5 lakh has been imposed on the convict. The accused said to be the relative of a 10-year-old has been convicted under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and IPC Section 506 ( Criminal Intimidation). As per the court’ statement, it is learnt that the minor was brutally assaulted from 2019-2021.
However, the release stated that the convict would serve 60 years in prison.
