New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss multiple issues, including GST dues for her state. Later, she is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu too. Amit Mitra, principal chief advisor to the West Bengal chief minister charged that the Centre has not released Integrated dues to tune of Rs 27000 crore to states.
CM Banerjee shall attend a Niti Ayog meeting on August 7 chaired by PM Modi, where issues related to agriculture, health, and the economy will be discussed. CM shall also meet a few Opposition leaders. With TMC warming up to the Congress in Parliament, she might also meet party president Sonia Gandhi too.
Earlier on Thursday, Mamta Banerjee met also her party’s MPs to discuss the current session of Parliament to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. TMC MP Sudip Bandhopadhyay said, “We met (Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) Giriraj Singh and had promised to resolve MGNREGA issue within 48 hours. It’s been over a month and all I received is a four-page answer which I have given to Mamta Banerjee”.
