On Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused Prime Minister Modi and his party, the BJP, of using lies and divisive actions for their support. Her sharp words were in reaction to PM Modi’s comments on the state government’s response to the unrest in Murshidabad.
Mamata Banerjee spoke in a press conference and said, “Hearing what Modi ji said today feels even more upsetting since the Opposition is now giving voice to the people’s concerns.” She said the BJP was adding politics to things by comparing their plans in West Bengal to “Operation Sindoor”, which one of Modi’s ministers had allegedly brought up.
In a bid to take on the BJP, Banerjee assured people that her party is ready for elections whenever they occur. If they’re brave, let them enter the elections immediately. We are prepared and Bengal is prepared to take on what you have to offer,” she told him.
He then referred to the BJP as the “Jumla Party,” since he feels it speaks more about false promises than about real solutions. The state government is being attacked by you for what the Opposition is actually to blame for. Garbage politics is all you are interested in. They take whatever they can and then leave. It is not appropriate for a prime minister to talk like that,” said the official.
Her statement came after Prime Minister Modi told a BJP rally in Alipurduar that the TMC government has mistreated the poor and mismanaged the state.
This episode further increases the political bad feelings between the two leaders before the elections in West Bengal.
