West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo struck back fiercely against BJP-led central government during the Martyrs Day rally organized by the party Monday at iconic Esplanade in Kolkata. In front of a huge crowd of party workers and supporters, Banerjee has once again assured that she will oust the BJP government at Centre, or until that time, and she said in very clear words, Our fight will continue until we get BJP out of the Centre.
The event, which has been annually held on July 21, as a day of remembrances known as the Shaheed Diwas, was in remembrance of the release of youth Congress activists fired in the year 1993 by the police in Kolkata. Through the platform, Banerjee accused the BJP of the increase in crimes against women in its controlled states. BJP wonders why women are facing atrocities in their ruled states. We are opposed to any kind of violence on females,” she explained.
She outlined that there should be a political roadmap on a stronger mandate in the 2026 elections of the West Bengal Assembly and an ultimate fight against BJP in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. To build on the results, she said: They will have to secure more seats in 2026 to gain a stronger standing towards the grand aim, that of ousting BJP out of the Centre.
Mamata Banerjee also strongly questioned the treatment of Bengalis in the states ruled by BJP, accusing them of being harassed, arrested, and targeted. They are putting Bengalis in detention camps. She alleged that there is an effort to disenfranchise our people.
She pointed towards Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that he dared to enter into Bengal’s business even after he had not been successful in running his own state. She had also cautioned against any form of special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal, accusing a BJP-Election Commission conspiracy to change the electoral map of the state.
