A major terror attack on the Indian Army picket is underway in the remote village of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Directorate of Public Relations, terrorists opened fire at a security post after the encounter is currently ongoing. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and implementing heightened security measures to prevent further escalation.
Informing about the recent terror attack, White Knight Corps, a unit of Indian Army wrote on X, “Terrorists attacked the house of a VDC at Gunda, Rajouri at 0310h. A nearby Army column reacted and a firefight ensued. Operations are continuing”.
Officials have revealed that terrorists initiated the attack at 4 AM on a security post in Gundha. Prompting the security personnel to retaliate, a cordon and search operation was subsequently launched as the exchange of gunfire was brief.
In the past few months, the Jammu region has witnessed an increase in terror attacks including the terror attack on army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Udhampur and Doda. Last week, Indian Army troops opened fire in response to suspicious movement near the Sunderbani area Line of Control in Rajouri District.
