Mumbai: The Maharashtra government tightened its measures to break the infection chain. After the state recorded the highest number of cases on Tuesday, the administration issue new guidelines for services. All the grocery, vegetable shops and diaries, all kinds of food outlets and raw material shops are allowed to function only for 4 hours.

The government announced the new guidelines in the purview of the increased infections registered in the past 24 hours. Around 60,000 new cases were observed yesterday. As per the hospital records only 52,412 recovered and 351 lost their lives to the deadly virus. 

As per the new rules all grocery, vegetable shops, fruit vendors, dairies, bakeries, confectioneries, all types of food shops (including chicken, mutton, poultry, fish and eggs), shops related to agricultural implements and farm produce, pet food shops, shops related to materials for impending rainy season for individuals as well as for organisations can remain open only between 7 am and 11 am. While home deliveries can only be attempted between 7am to 8pm. 

The local Disaster Management Authorities are also allowed to include any additional entities or services to the essential category under Section (2) of the April 13 order of the Maharashtra government. 

The renewed guidelines are said to be implemented in accordance with the April 13 order.  The state CM Uddhav Thackrey had announced a 15-day lockdown like restrictions on the movement across the state. The weekend lockdowns and other restrictions will remain in force till April 30 under the ‘Break the Chain’ Covid-19 action plan.
