New Delhi: The national capital witnessed a spike in the subsidized liquefied petroleum gas cylinder by Rs 25 with effect from today. As per the revised price, the subsidized LPG of 14.2kg would now cost Rs 884.50 in Delhi.
This decision by the Petro heads has sparked chaos in the capital. This is the second price hike undertaken by the gas retailers within a month. Earlier on August 18, the LPG price was hiked by Rs25 per cylinder. Likewise, the commercial cylinder was also added Rs 75 per cylinder. This took to 19 kg commercial cylinder cost to Rs 1,693 per cylinder. Prior to the hike in August, a hike of Rs 25.50 per cylinder was observed on July 1 stated sources as per the data available on the Indian Oil Corporation’s website.
Following the revision effective from Sept 1, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder is highest in Kolkata Rs 911 while in Delhi it is Rs 884.50, and Mumbaikars get it for Rs 884.50.
The LPG process has been on a boil since the last quarter of 2020. The global rise of Propane and Butane, as well as foreign exchange rates, determine the LPG rates. Consumers are unlikely to get a respite from the rising prices in the months ahead as global LPG prices firm up with the onset of winters.
