In a development that will bring relief to consumers using LPG, the government-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have announced a reduction of Rs 158 in the price of 19 KG LPG gas cylinders. According to the reports, the revised retail price for a 19 kg LPG cylinder is now set at Rs 1,522.
This reduction follows adjustments made by the OMCs. In August, there was a decrease of Rs 99.75 in the price of LPG cylinders. However, in July, there was an increase of Rs 7 per cylinder. Prior to this increase, there were two reductions in May and June. The month of May witnessed a decrease of Rs 172 per cylinder, while June had a cut of Rs 83. Moreover, in April, there was a dip in prices by Rs 91.50 per unit.
To further benefit consumers, the government has announced an exemption from the 15% agri cess on imports of LPG, including propane and liquified butane starting from Friday.
In another move aimed at providing relief to households, the central government reduced LPG prices by Rs 200 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan as a gesture towards women across the country. Just so you know, the prices of both domestic LPG cylinders are updated every month on the day. The recent changes will be in effect starting from September 1st.
