New Delhi: India recorded 9,283 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.33 per cent accounted for 10,949 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,39,57,698. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.80 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 51 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 1,11,481; lowest in 537 days accounting for 0.32 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 2103 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.35 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 437 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,66,584.
According to the first real-world assessment of India’s indigenous COVID-19 vaccine published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal, two doses of Covaxin are 50 per cent effective against symptomatic disease.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, so far 118.44 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country , including 76.58 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours. Over 11 lakh infected samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. So far 63.47 crore tests have been recorded by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
