New Delhi: Shortly after the Lok Sabha proceedings were resumed at 4 pm for the third day the house was adjourned for the day as vociferous protests escalated. The opposition demanded an urgent discussion over price rise and the imposition of GST on some essentials.
The house beginning the proceedings on Wednesday witnessed an uproar in the zero hour when the speaker OM Birla had granted the opposition an opportunity to raise the issues
”This House is for discussions and not for shouting slogans. This kind of conduct is not appropriate for the decorum of the House and there is a process to be followed by the members,” the Speaker said.
The house was adjourned first at 2 pm and then at 4 pm after opposition sloganeered displaying placards demanding the withdrawal of the GST imposed on items such as buttermilk and curd. The house after the first adjournment saw the matter of urgent public importance under Rule 377 by P V Midhun Reddy, who was in the chair.
