INDIA: As the number of novel coronavirus cases are substantially spreading and the number of infected people increasing at a very rapid rate, The centre has extended the nationwide lockdown for two more week until 31st May.

As per the latest information, The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a new set of guidelines pertaining what is allowed and restricted in different zones namely — Red, Orange and green zone.

After Many states went into head on collision over the demarcation of different zones, MHA announced that the delineation of red, orange and green zones will be decided by the respective State/Union Territory governments only after considering all the parameters shared by the Ministry of Health and family welfare.

Activities remain prohibited across the country:

  • Domestic, International Air travel and metro rail services not to function till 31st may
  • Hotels, Restaurants, Cinema halls, Malls and gyms will be closed
  • Schools, Colleges, Coaching institutes and other educational institutions will remain shut
  • Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 7 pm to 7 am, except for essential activities.
  • Religious places will be closed for public, religious congregations will be strictly prohibited

States to make final call on passenger movement/zoning

The MHA has now permitted inter-state movement of passenger vehicles and buses, provided that consent is given by all states/UTs involved. States/UTs have been given the authority to decide on intra-state movement of passenger vehicles and buses.

In Addition, Containment zones and buffer zones within red and orange zones will be demarcated by the district authorities. However, only essential activities will be permitted in containment zones that will also be subjected to intensive tracing, house-to-house surveillance and other clinical interventions.

Earlier, on Sunday, The National Disaster Management Authority issued a letter to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, directing all ministries/departments of the government of India and state governments/authorities to extend the lockdown measures up to May 31, 2020.

The total number of Coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 90,000-mark. India witnessed the highest ever spike of 4987 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry data. The total number of Corona positive cases in India is 90927, including 53,946 active cases, 34109 cured/discharged/migrated cases, death toll 2872 deaths.
