DELHI: In its latest order, the Union Public Service Commission has announced the postponement of the Civil Services Preliminary examination which was scheduled on 31st May 2020. However, the new date of the examination is expected to be reviewed & announced by the Commission on 20th May 2020.

The UPSC Preliminary examination for the recruitment of 796 vacancies in the civil services has been deferred by the Commission due to the extension of nationwide lockdown owing to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The UPSC Prelims serves as the screening test for the Indian Forest Services Examination too. Consequently, the schedule for the same is also postponed.

Earlier, last month the Commission had deferred the dates of Personality Test for remaining candidates for the Civil Services Examination, 2019.

The Notifications for the following examinations have also been delayed by the Commission amid lockdown:

a) The Indian Economic Services/ Indian Statistical Services Examination, 2020;

b) Central Armed Police Forces Examination,2020;

c) Combined Medical Services Examination, 2020

d) NDA & Naval Academy Examination, 2020

However, it was being expected by the students that the exam date gets postponed due to the spread of Coronavirus in India. Candidates can check official notification by the UPSC regarding Exam postponement on the official website of the commission.
