Jammu: Two terrorists of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning. The encounter broke out in the early morning hours after security forces launched an anti-militancy operation following the information about the presence of ultras in the district’s Alshipora area.
“Shopian encounter update: Killed terrorists have been identified as Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq, Abrar of terror outfit LeT. Terrorist Abrar was involved in killing of Kashmiri Pandit late Sanjay Sharma: ADGP Kashmir”, tweeted Kashmir Zone Police, confirming the encounter.
The gun battle erupted in the Ashipora area of Shopian during cordon and a search operation was launched by joint forces following the input. Additional Director General of Police,Kashmir Vijay Kumar said the two militants, identified as Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq, alias Abrar, were killed and one of them was behind the killing of Sharma.
