On Friday, messages of concern and support were pouring on social media after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut announced he would be retiring to public life as he had a serious health problem. The top-level leader who is characterized by his vocal character and being closely attached to Uddhav Thackeray divulged that he has been urged not to go outside as he continues receiving treatment.
Sanjay Raut posted on X, heartedly: You have all loved and trusted me. However I have developed severe health conditions and I am receiving treatment. I will come out of this.” He had also added that, as advised by medical opinion, he has been requested to avoid going out to public places, and socializing at the moment. Raut expressed optimism saying he hopes to be fully healed and be able to resume active life in the public in the coming year.
Prime minister Narendra Modi went further to wish Raut a fast-recovery. The Prime Minister wrote in a message on X, that he hoped Sanjay Raut Ji will be well and recover. A number of political leaders cut across the parties came to air their concern and pray to his health.
Jitendra Awhad, a senior leader of the NCP and a former minister of Maharashtra housing, said that Raut had taken the step of withdrawing himself out of public life because of the severity of his illness. Through his message, it can be seen that the health problem he is having is not a minor one. Hopefully, he will get better very quickly and come back into the mainstream politics, Awhad added.
Raut is among the prominent figures in the Maharashtra politics and one of the most vocal activists of the Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena (UBT) wing. Being a strong political figure and having rather hot views and statements, his temporary departure of the public life has raised a great number of concerns and attention. His colleagues and supporters have also opined their expectations of his full recovery.
