Noida: A tragic incident in Greater Noida West has resulted in the loss of eight lives, as four additional laborers lost their lives due to a lift collapse. This incident occurred at an under-construction housing project known as “Dream Valley.” On Friday morning, a lift plummeted from the 14th floor of the project, causing the fatalities.
The incident transpired around 9 a.m. when a group of nine workers was using the lift to access their work site in the C-12 tower of the project. While rescue efforts were promptly initiated, the tragic outcome underscores the importance of stringent safety measures in construction sites.
One survivor receives treatment in a district hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The circumstances surrounding the collapse are under investigation to determine the root causes and any potential negligence.
In another development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into an alleged ‘classroom scam’ based on a report by the Vigilance Department submitted to the Delhi Lokayukta. North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari emphasized that the report had exposed multiple irregularities, spanning financial and procedural aspects, and alleged that the government was involved in a series of ‘scams.’
