Chandigarh: The election campaign for the 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab (Punjab Loksabha Election 2024) ended on Thursday. Now the candidates will be allowed to campaign door-to-door. Voting will be held on June 1 while the counting of votes will take place on June 4.
On the last day of campaigning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha and other leaders put their full strength in the campaign.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s appeal to Punjabis was issued by the Congress. In the letter, he has appealed to vote for the Congress in view of the work done during the UPA government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held public meetings in favor of Anita Som Prakash in Hoshiarpur, the party’s traditional seat, and Dr. Subhash Sham in Sri Anandpur Sahib.
On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi also addressed a public meeting in Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s native village Khatkar Kalan in favor of Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla from Sri Anandpur Sahib. BJP President JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath put all their strength for the party candidates on the last day.
According to the data shared by the Election Commission, there are over 1.70 lakh voters across the state aged between 18 and 19 years who will be voting for the first time. The Election Commission of India has invited all the voters to vote at polling booths.
