Shalgari: The Shalgari area is constantly having rains over the past few days, which caused a landslip on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today morning. The landslide happened on Thursday, 27 April, and has caused more than 300 vehicles to be stuck in the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The officials have reported that they’ll rescue the vehicles immediately.
These vehicles are stuck at different parts of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, around 270 km long. The officials have also said this is the only all-weather road linking different parts of the country with Kashmir.
“Traffic on NH-44 restored after clearance at Shalgadi, near Banihal. first preference to stranded vehicles. Rest to follow, tweeted the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban.
The officials have said their team is constantly working towards opening the National Highway as soon as possible. But they reported that the rains in the Ramban-Banihal sector are becoming an obstacle and stopping them from doing so. Still, they’ve said the highway will be opened again soon.
Ramban’s Deputy Commissioner tweeted, “Continuous shooting stones, slides block traffic at Shalgadi, near Banihal. Arrangements made in shelter sheds for stranded passengers,”. The traffic control units have advised people not to travel from these areas as the National Highway is closed.
