As the monsoon continues to deepen the suffering in mountain locales, another landslide hit Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted about the same and informed that a total of 2 people have been killed in the landslide and 5 others remain buried inside the debris. The landslide occurred at Jumma village of Pithoragarh district. The relief work has started on the site of the landslide and further information on the casualties is awaited.
The Uttarakhand CM on Monday tweeted in Hindi regarding the details of the landslide in Pithoragarh. “There is news of the tragic death of 2 people and 5 others buried under the debris due to a landslide near Jumma village of Pithoragarh district. In this regard, after talking to the District Magistrate, instructions have been given to intensify the rescue mission. I pray to God for the safety of the people trapped there”, he wrote.
The state disaster response fund (SDRF) team and the Services Selection Board (SSB) team are deployed on the landslide location to continue with the rescue operations. Relief material for the affected families and individuals has also been arranged by the state government authorities. Ashish Chouhan, the Pithoragarh district magistrate has told the media that continuous rescue operations are on and the safety of all the people in the location is being looked at by the authorities.
