Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: FSL Report Confirms, Weapon Seized From Union Minister’s Son Was Fired

Lakhimpur: Weapons recovered from Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra and others following the Lakhimpur riots had been fired, according to a forensic investigation.

Farmers who were protesting claimed that Ashish Mishra had opened fire. The study from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirms that the firearms were shot, but it does not say whether they were fired on the day of the incident or on a different day. Following the Lakhimpur incident, four weapons were seized, including a rifle belonging to Ashish Mishra alias Monu Mishra. On October 15, the SIT recovered Ashish Mishra, Das, and Kale’s licenced weapons — a rifle, pistol, revolver, and repeater gun — after their arrests and sent them for forensic investigation. A revolver held by Das’ aide Satya Prakash, is awaiting a forensic examination. The case’s special investigative team (SIT) has yet to make a formal statement about the FSL report. A senior official said, “Of the four weapons sent for ballistic examination to the FSL, it has been confirmed that firing took place from three, including Ashish Mishra’s rifle. However, the report did not confirm when the firing took place.”

Assaulted and charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, rash driving, and rioting, among other things, were Ashish Mishra and 15-20 unknown individuals. So far, police have arrested 13 of them.
