Historical Significance of Karwa Chauth
The story of Queen Veeravati is one of the many folktales associated with the festival. After breaking her fast early on her first Karwa Chauth due to starvation, she discovered her husband’s death. She prayed to Goddess Parvati in her sorrow, and she got the strength to fast again. Her husband’s life was saved by her devotion, demonstrating the power of love and faith.
Another important story of the Mahabharata is related to Draupadi, in which she sought help from Lord Krishna during the absence of her husband Arjun, and Krishna advised her to observe a strict fast like Goddess Parvati, which ultimately resulted in Arjun’s safe return.
