Some officials confirmed on Tuesday that YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has shared information regularly with a staff member of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, and this has caused serious concerns about national security.
Vikas Kumar, the spokesperson from the Hisar Police, has confirmed Malhotra’s admission that she was in constant touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, a Pakistani national and High Commission employee, throughout this period. Officials believe Danish was trying to use Malhotra as a source of intelligence for Pakistan.
According to Kumar, Malhotra confirmed the use of Danish communication throughout the given period, and she was also in contact with various YouTube influencers. They have sent three of the victim’s mobile devices, a laptop, and Harkirat Singh’s two phones to be examined by forensic experts.
A source informed that Malhotra was questioned by officials from the NIA and IB about her connection to Pakistan’s suspected intelligence operatives. Her activities on the internet and her list of contacts are being included in a much larger investigation.
A senior police official who spoke on the condition of anonymity highlighted that Malhotra has several accounts with a number of suspicious transactions. The process of investigating money transfers requires a long period, he pointed out.
Investigators are studying her international trip history. Jyoti Malhotra, who received her passport in 2018 (it’s still valid), has been to Pakistan, China, Dubai, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Indonesia, which adds more questions to her foreign contacts.
Police will ask the court on Wednesday to give them an additional period to continue questioning her in custody. He is one of 12 people who have been arrested in recent weeks from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
