Ramgarh: A BSF personnel was killed in unprovoked firing by Pakistani Rangers along the international border in the Ramgarh sector of Sambha district in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred on the intervening night of November 8-9, prompting a swift response from the Border Security Force troops stationed in the region.
“During night intervening 8/9 Nov 2023, Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in Ramgarh area which was befittingly responded to by BSF troops,” the BSP said in a statement.
Security force on Thursday neutralized a terrorist affiliated with the proscribed outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in the Kathohalan area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter, which began in the wee hours, was a joint operation conducted by the local police and the Indian Army.
The identity of the deceased terrorist is yet to be disclosed pending further investigation. Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the encounter site, police said.
Earlier on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at multiple locations in the Union Territory as part of an investigation into a terror-related case. The searches were carried out in Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama districts in the Kashmir Valley.
The raids began early in the morning, and SIA sleuths collected evidence, including from digital devices. Further details are awaited, but officials said that the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into a terror-related case.
