J&K Assembly Elections: Congress has released its first list of candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections. Congress has released the first list of 9 candidates. Party general secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir has been nominated from Doru and former state unit chief Vikar Rasool Wani from Banihal seat.
Congress and the National Conference are fighting the J&K assembly elections together. Both parties have announced the candidates and shared their seats. Congress released the first list of 9 candidates, while the National Conference announced the names of 19 candidates. The announcement for the candidates was made late at night.
Sources reveal that the seat-sharing formula between the Congress and National Conference in the J&K assembly elections was finalized on 26 August. Out of 90 seats in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference will contest on 51 seats and the Congress on 32 seats. There will be a friendly fight on 5 seats, while 2 seats have been given to CPI (M) and Panthers Party.
Earlier on Monday, the first list of candidates for J&K Assembly elections was made public by the BJP today. Three phases of voting will take place in Jammu and Kashmir on September 19, 25, and October 1. The election for J&K assembly polls is scheduled for October 4. After the former state lost its special status in 2019 and was divided into two Union Territories, this is Jammu and Kashmir’s first Assembly election.
Later during the day, the list was made public following the finalization of the BJP’s poll choices for the forthcoming election by the Central Election Committee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief JP Nadda were at the important meeting in Delhi yesterday.
