US Vice President JD Vance started his first visit to India by visiting the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in New Delhi, a theologically as well as culturally very rich and trying place. The family of Vance—Usha, along with elder children Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, accompanied by their former Chancellor family hosts, received a traditional Indian welcome that marked a warm start to their India trip.

The children, in an act of respect and appreciation of a culture, wore traditional Indian attire. Seen in elegant kurta-pyjamas, Ewan and Vivek, Mirabel was dressed in a beautifully stitched anarkali outfit. Besides celebrating with their Indian culture, the family’s outfit was also emblematic of its respect for unity and pride in hospitality that India always stands for.

The Vance family visited the acres of the Akshardham complex, famous for its stunning architecture and spiritual ambiance, and intricate carvings that tell ancient Hindu beliefs and customs, and were particularly impressed by how lovely it was. The temple’s artistic brilliance and the serene environment that represents the essence of India’s cultural and religious heritage were the cause of their wonderment.

Speaking on an official release, the vice president and his family appreciated the way the temple was stressing universal values like peace, harmony, family unity, etc. “The visit symbolizes the shared values of faith, peace, and unity that continue to strengthen ties between India and the United States,” the statement said.

Akshardham is a big cultural highlight of JD Vance’s diplomatic mission because it demonstrates the strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations. It also had a positive start for the rest of his tour, which was to hold talks with Indian leaders and to discuss strengthening strategic and economic cooperation.
