Bengaluru- Japan has started to blacklist several global players in the IT sector, including a Bengaluru-based technology firm, among which the country has accused of helping Russia in avoiding the economic restrictions put in by the Western countries in response to its aggression against Ukraine. For instance, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said it had imposed penalties, including an asset freeze and ban on exports to at least ten businesses from China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the UAE, and India. These guidelines established under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act symbolize Tokyo for bearing the political-economic costs of joining the sides of the Western allies in the strict economic penalties for Russia.
The restrictions, however, belong to the general context of measures Japan applied to Russia to contribute to the international struggle against Moscow’s military actions against Ukraine. The companies in question are to have assisted Russia in avoiding the wide-ranging sanctions imposed by Western countries. Such actions depict Japan as a country that is ready to go to any extent to adhere to international laws and keep world peace.
The Indian company and others thereafter suffered severe restrictions set by Japan for claims that the firm helped Russians dodge international bans. These include freezing of assets and no exports, aiming to focus on any cash and material flow these companies may make available to Russia. The Japanese government has insisted on implementing these sanctions to ensure that there is no subversion of effort by the international community towards addressing Russia’s aggression.
Charm of the Group of Seven reached a consensus on how to counter Russian activities aimed at weakening the economic actions taken against Moscow after Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida pledged that Tokyo would support collective measures to contain Russia’s actions during talks at the recent G7 summit in Italy. The G7 countries, including Britain, have individually and as a group applied sanctions such as assets freeze and export restrictions on Russian individuals and companies as part of a global reaction seeking to condemn and punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine. These measures signify Japan being on the side of Western countries and committed to and supporting international justice and law.
