External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Israel towards the end of Monday following a spate of high-level interactions in the United Arab Emirates which the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed. The visit follows his attendance of major diplomatic conferences to enhance the strategic alliances of India in the Middle East.
Jaishankar is leading the 16th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the 5 th India-UAE Strategic Dialogue in Abu Dhabi alongside the UAE deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These engagements came after Jaishankar took part in the Sir Bani Yas Forum, which was organised between December 12 and 14 in a western part of Abu Dhabi. The annual forum is a high-level platform that unites senior leaders, policy makers and international experts to discuss outstanding regional and international problems with specific emphasis on peace, security and economic collaboration. The representatives of the Gulf and Arab world, Europe and Asia leaders participated in the debates. Some of the prominent attendees included the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Badr Abdelatty and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar.
Before his visit to Israel, Jaishankar wished the people of Israel and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar a happy Hanukkah. In one of his messages posted in the social media he hoped that the Festival of Lights would bring peace, hope, and joy to everyone.
After the end of his activities in UAE, Jaishankar will visit Israel to have bilateral consultations with Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. It is assumed that discussions will be aimed at enhancing the India and Israel relations in terms of partnership in the defence, technological, innovation, and regional security matters.
