India is being singled out on many matters around the world and Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar said on Monday that this kind of discrimination is not right and not justified. He said this when he was talking to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Poland in New Delhi, as the world remains in the state of global uncertainty and geopolitical changes.
Jaishankar pointed out that the world today is in a period of great change and turbulence, and that under these conditions, every nation must be given equal treatment. Speaking specifically of the conflict in Ukraine, he once again stated that India has always been open and transparent in its stand on the topic in the international arena. He emphasized that it is not in his best interests to selectively blame or target India over its position.
Referring to his recent travels abroad, Jaishankar stated that he had made his position clear in terms of India, at a New York meeting last September and at Paris earlier this year. Both times, he stressed the unfairness of treating India to another standard and that there was no reason to do so. His philosophy has been centered on dialogue, diplomacy, and long term international stability of India.
The negotiations with the Polish leadership had occurred during what Jaishankar termed as a global churn. Although India and Poland are in separate parts of the world, he argued that both are going through complicated issues and the new opportunities in the new international order. He has emphasized the need to have a constant communication between the two nations to help each party know the other side of the argument and hence enhance bilateral relations.
Jaishankar also said that greater involvement between India and Poland would add a positive part to mutual concerns addressing and multiplying cooperation in political, economic, and strategic spheres in an ever-changing world.
