India’s balanced and multi-dimensional foreign policy approach is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, not merely while executing domestic policies but in diplomacy as well, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said Saturday. Addressing the Business Today Vucanomics 2025 event on the topic of questions ‘Diplomacy in the Age of Disruptions’, Jaishankar stressed that India stands distinctively placed to converse with various opposing states simultaneously.
Jaishankar said, “India is one of the very few countries which can engage simultaneously with Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran, the democratic West, the Global South and the both BRICS and QUAD.” This is not by accident; rather, he said this is deliberate and thoughtful diplomacy, keeping all doors open.
He made the point that Indian diplomacy, even on crucial matters like defense and security, guarantees that the armed forces and Indigenous industries are exposed to a network of wide multi-partners at the international level. “We have been able to build different partnerships for different trade, technology, energy, security needs,” he added.
On India’s participation in global war and conflict, Jaishankar noted that the country has committed to participation in balance with conflicting sides in dialogues. Reinforcing India’s position as a dependable diplomatic bridge in the realm of global geopolitics, he said India has shown the maturity and capability to talk to all parties — Israel and Iran, or Russia and Ukraine.
According to him, India’s foreign policy is based on strategic autonomy and inclusiveness, and India is among very few countries that can still maintain good relations through global divides. Jaishankar said that India will continue to be shaped by this flexibility and adaptability as the world turns rapidly into a new order.
