Jaipur: Another person, who sustained serious burn injuries, died at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital on Thursday, taking the death toll in the tanker fire incident to 19.

Dr. Sushil Bhati, the superintendent of SMS Hospital, reported that one more death was reported on Thursday, bringing the tragic incident’s death toll to 19. “Currently, 11 people are undergoing treatment at the hospital,” he said, adding that two or three of them are likely to be discharged on Thursday.

Lalaram (28), who passed away on Thursday, was on a ventilator and suffered 60% burn damage. There are three more patients receiving ventilator support. For a post-mortem, the body has been moved to the hospital’s mortuary.

According to Lalaram’s friend Ramavtar, the victim worked as a security guard for an IT business located in the Mahindra Special Economic Zone. He became trapped in the fire while traveling to work on a motorcycle. “He had a morning shift that day. He was a resident of Sanganer but had shifted to the Kanota area on the Agra highway some time ago. He was on a motorcycle when the incident happened,” Ramavtar said.

Wednesday saw the deaths of three individuals who were hurt in the incident. On December 20, an LPG tanker collided with a truck and created a massive fireball that turned a section of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway into an inferno. Eleven people died on the day of the incident, and four died later.
