The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Jaipur has lodged a complaint against the man after performing a daredevil act of driving a Mahindra Thar onto the tracks without permission.
On Wednesday, a railway spokesperson said that the vehicle had been genuinely seized and that the driver had been identified.
According to police, the case has been registered under Section 153, which deals with endangering the safety of a passenger; Section 174, which deals with obstructing a train; and Section 147 of the Railway Act, which concerns trespassing on rail property. In legal matters, legal action will just proceed as follows, the spokesperson also stated.
This one was a unique event that occurred on Monday night between the Kanakpura-Dhankya stations of the Jaipur division. The young driver was said to have manoeuvred the Mahindra Thar into the tracks and tried to cross them, only to be trapped by the rails.
One could consider the act as potentially fatal when a goods train was seen coming along the same line. Yet, the train’s loco pilot realized the situation with the Thar on time and, without hesitation, managed to stop the train at the necessary distance. Being a pilot, the former immediately informed other railway employees of the occurrence through wireless transmission.
Its response was to have officers of the RPF get to the scene only to find that the driver had Been able to free His car and drive away in panic. The Thar was later discovered deserted some four kilometres from the scene since the driver had escaped on foot for fear of being apprehended.
This has called for concern with regard to such reckless stunts on railway property that pose a live danger and interfere with service provision. The RPF is still investigating the case, and more legal action remains pending.
