NEW DELHI: Delhi CM and AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday named former TV anchor Isudan Gadhvi as the party’s CM elect for Gujarat assembly elections. Gadhvi owing to his popularity in Gujarat – stands grounds to win the post. His name was declared after a public opinion poll the Kejriwal party had conducted in the BJP dominated state.
” A humble farmer’ son like me has been given such a huge responsibility in Arvind Kejriwals politics”, said Gadhvi addressing the gathering at the press conference after the announcement. I will try to do the best I can- Gadhvi added in his attempts to engage the audience with him.
Gadhvi is the national general secretary of the AAP and a member of its national executive. He belongs to the Journalism industry and joined AAP in June 2021. As many as 16 lakh people voted for Gadhvi as the CM face for the state in the polls held by AAP. He won 73 percent of the votes in the survey. He belongs to the OBC sect which accounts for 48per cent of the state’s population.
The AAP party on October 29th urged the people to contact the party on the given number through SMS, WhatsApp, voice note and email to give their views on the CM elect for the party. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was picked up as the CM elect for Punjab in a similar way.
PM Modi’s home state is set to undergo polls on 1 and 5 December and the results will be declared on December 8th.
