Bengaluru: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Integrated Defense Staff jointly conducted the hypersonic vehicle test. The trials achieved all the required parameters and demonstrated high capability. After this test, India’s defense sector will be further strengthened, it will especially prove to be an important weapon to thwart the tricks of Pakistan and China toward the country.
The special thing about this vehicle is that it flies five times faster than the speed of sound. Hypersonic vehicles enable faster access to space, faster military response over longer distances, and faster means of commercial air travel. A hypersonic vehicle can be an airplane, missile, or spacecraft. Hypersonic technology is considered to be the latest cutting-edge technology. Many countries including China, India, Russia, and the US are engaged in the further development of hypersonic weapons.
India is working on hypersonic technology for the last few years. According to a report presented in the US Congress, India is engaged in making hypersonic missiles with Russia. This year, Russia reportedly used its Kinzhal hypersonic missile in the Ukraine war. India is also developing an indigenous, dual-capable hypersonic cruise missile as part of its Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle program. This missile will be capable of firing conventional weapons as well as nuclear weapons.
