There is a viral video that recorded an outrageous scene inside an IndiGo flight at the Mumbai-Krabi, Thailand route, showing the anger of the passengers following a delay of almost nine hours on the plane. The videos, which went viral on social media platform X, depict passengers yelling at passenger cabin crew, using vulgar and obscene words, and insisting on answers. At one point that is especially frightening, one of the passengers can be seen kicking the cockpit door, and the rest of the crowd repeats the airline-dissatisfaction slogans.
The delay according to the airport officials began when the incoming aircraft landed in Mumbai late. When it arrived, the cockpit crew which was to run the Krabi flight had already surpassed their allowed duty hours and thus the airline had to delay the departure even further. Air congestion in the airport also made the delay highly extended. The flight, which was planned to take a flight at 4:05 am, later made takeoff at about 1 pm.
IndiGo affirmed that when passengers were at boarding the plane, two people were involved in violent acts and broke the airline safety regulations. In accordance with the norms of safety measures, it was declared that they were unruly passengers, they were disembarked, and turned over to the security services. The accident led to more delays until the flight was finally able to take off.
The airline stressed that passenger safety and compliance with regulations are among the priorities and encouraged passengers to keep calm even in case of a long queue. Airport officials pointed out that some delays caused by crew duty restriction and air traffic may not be avoided but passenger misbehaviour may cause tension and be hazardous to the crew and passengers.
The viral video has caused a wide discussion in social media, as it questions the behavior of the passengers, the way in which the airlines communicate and the way in which the extended delays should be approached. The accident is a reminder of the difficulties that airlines have had to deal with when there is a disruption in the operations and the need to adhere to safety measures.
