Indigo Crisis: Even after the central government’s strictness and withdrawal of the weekly rest order, the crisis in Indigo continues. The country’s largest airline IndiGo seems to be facing a major operational crisis even today i.e. Sunday. Thousands of passengers are stranded due to the large-scale cancellation of flights and there is a chaotic situation at many airports. Even today, more than 250 flights of Indigo have been cancelled. The series of flight cancellations is continuing in many big cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Chandigarh.
Passengers are clearly upset by the flight cancellations. Many passengers said they were not informed in time, faced difficulty in getting refunds, and were facing significant price increases for alternative flights. IndiGo has appealed to passengers for patience and said the situation will return to normal soon.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show cause notice to IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers after the massive flight disruptions over the past few days became the country’s worst aviation crisis in years. IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers issued an official statement on X.
Since Tuesday, IndiGo has cancelled more than 2,000 flights and delayed many others while leaving passengers stranded at the airports. The ministry also invoked its regulatory powers and issued an order for airfare caps amid IndiGo crisis that had pushed air ticket prices higher in many routes. These limits will stay in place until the situation returns to normal.
