New Delhi: India recorded 6,563 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.39 per cent accounted for 8,077 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,41,87,017. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.75 per cent, less than 2 per cent for 77 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 82,267; lowest in 572 days accounting for 0.24 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 1646 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.37 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 132 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,77,554.
India’s Omicron caseload has surpassed 150, with Maharashtra recording the highest number of Omicron cases of any state. With 6 new cases, Maharashtra’s Omicron tally reached 54. Karnataka’s 5 new cases have taken its tally to 19, while Telangana’s 8 new Omicron cases have brought the state’s case tally to 20.
Racing towards prevention, Andaman and Nicobar Islands achieved 100 per cent double dose COVID vaccination of its target beneficiaries on Sunday. The announcement came though a tweet by the administration that read- “A&N achieved 100% Covid vaccine coverage making it 1st State/UT to achieve the feat using only Covishield. UT Admin overcame Insurmountable odds for this extraordinary feat in one of the remotest parts of world. “
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 137.67 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country, including 15.82 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
