NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday recorded a marginal decrease in daily Covid-19 cases at 5,676 compared to the previous day taking the cumulative infection tally to 4.47 crore. Active cases accounting for 0.08 percent of total infections stood at 37,093. The weekly positivity rate is pegged at 3.81 percent.
The national recovery rate stood at 98.73 percent. The 3,761 recoveries were added since yesterday which took the total recuperative count to 4,42,00,079. The case fatality rate stood at 1.19 per cent. With 21 new deaths, the fatality count rose to 5,31,000. Out of the 21 deaths, three each were reported from Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan; two from Karnataka and one in Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. Besides two reconciled deaths were added from Kerala.
According to the ministry website, 220.66 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered to the beneficiaries under the nationwide vaccination drive.
Meanwhile, mock drills that were announced by the center concluded on Monday.
Delhi on Monday logged 484 fresh Covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 26.58 per cent, meaning that nearly one in every four people tested returned a positive result. With the fresh cases, Delhi’s Covid-19 tally has risen to 20,15,121. The death count stands at 26,543, the bulletin stated.
Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Monday asked the citizens not to panic after the country witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases and advised the people to maintain hygiene.
“Don’t panic. We have controlled it before, We will do it now also with your support. Covid cases are rising, but don’t panic. Maintain hygiene, said IMA in a statement.
