An Indian national was slightly injured in Abu Dhabi early Monday after being hit by fragments of a ballistic missile in the Al Shawamekh district after they had been successfully intercepted by the air defence systems. The government officials reported that emergency services were timely to the accident and offered medical help to the injured person who is said to be in a stable condition.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office, in a post on social media, explained that the debris landed after the missile was downed in mid-air, which would have led to a more serious effect. Those in charge also called on the citizens to only trust sources of information that are verified and not to spread rumours as the crisis persists.

The event follows on top of the growing missile and drone attacks in the gulf region as the conflict between the US and Iran keeps escalating. The UAE Ministry of Defence reports that the air defence systems in the country have been intercepting numerous threats such as 25 unmanned aerial vehicles and four ballistic missiles within a span of a day. Since the war started, the UAE has also reportedly countered more than 1,700 drones as well as various cruise and ballistic missiles.

The overall scenario in West Asia has also affected the Indian nationals in the region. Six Indians have so far been killed in the war with some people being reported in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Oman. Various attacks have injured several others such as workers and seafarers.

Officials in the area are also on full alert and safety and emergency plans are being strengthened to safeguard citizens as the circumstances keep on changing.
