Late on Friday, a bus plying in India with 40 passengers on board sank into the Marsyangdi River in Nepal’s Tanahun district. In its reports, the district police office stated that after the fall, the Indian bus, which was identified to have registration number UP FT 7623, came to rest on the riverbank.
DSP Deepkumar Raya from the Tanahun District Police Office affirmed the fact that the bus that was on the route connected to Pokhara to Kathmandu diverted off the standard path and fell into the river. While the actual causes of the accident remain unknown, the authorities speculate that the bus driver probably lost control of the vehicle due to the difficult road conditions.
The accident happened in an area that is considered a tough road, and it was not the first time such a mishap had happened in hilly regions of Nepal. Rescue operation was initiated as soon as emergency services received various calls regarding the occurrence. The bus was discovered on the riverbank, and many individuals were trapped inside the rescue operation to know the number of people that were killed or injured.
The Uttar Pradesh relief commissioner has been communicating with local authorities to confirm whether any of the passengers were from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The police are launched to work to establish the identity of the people involved and offer the required help to the candidates and their families.
